Greener transport starts with reliable insulation

High-performance insulation with built-in moisture protection – flexible, lightweight, and made for transport.

Closed-cell FEF and PEF insulation protects marine, rail, and automotive systems from condensation and corrosion under insulation (CUI), even in demanding environments.

Transport applications

In rail vehicles, these insulation materials are used in heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems, as well as in supply lines for drinking water and wastewater. FEF materials are also installed in wall and floor areas for thermal insulation and sound decoupling, for example as anti-rattle protection in cabins.

In shipbuilding, cold and chilled water lines as well as refrigeration systems must be protected against condensation. Thanks to their high flexibility and thermal performance, FEF and PEF fit confined spaces and cut operating energy demand.

In the automotive sector, FEF and PEF are used to insulate refrigerant lines and evaporator and condenser connections. They are also found in gaskets, seals, liners and anti-rattle components, supporting thermal management, vibration damping and acoustic comfort. Their low density makes them ideal for weight-sensitive applications.

Saving energy, lowering emissions

FEF and PEF materials contribute to energy efficiency and long-term system protection. They reduce heat loss and keep performance stable. As in all application areas, system efficiency and environmental payback are key advantages. The insulation performance of FEF and PEF materials leads to long-term energy savings that exceed the energy used in their manufacture. This contributes to lower emissions and supports the transition towards more sustainable transport solutions.

Easy to install and lightweight

FEF and PEF materials are light in weight and highly flexible. They are easy to cut and quick to install, even in confined or complex geometries, making them ideal for use in vehicles where space is limited and installation access is restricted.

Thermal and acoustic insulation

The closed-cell structure provides effective thermal insulation. Elastic properties decouple components mechanically, reducing noise and vibration.

Compliant with fire safety standards

FEF and PEF insulation materials are available in formulations that meet the stringent fire safety requirements for transport applications, including EN 45545 for rail and IMO standards for marine vessels.
